Director and Creative Director for Tate McRae’s episode of Extended Play made in collaboration with Vevo, including stunning live versions of “Exes”, “We’re Not Alike” and a unique ballad arrangement of “Hurt My Feelings”
Tate and her team tasked us with creating a liminal space to stage her performances; a space to represent this unique moment and pivotal stage of her career trajectory. As we were shooting in Los Angeles, I took my cues from Hollywood’s golden era of noir film making. From the opening title sequence referencing the iconic masterpiece Sunset Boulevard, to the shadow play titles used in “Exes” as a nod to The Maltese Falcon right down to the 16mm film stock every detail was crafted to convey a sense of being on the cusp of stardom.
